We're almost there. This is the 22nd and second to the last Thing. Finish these and you'll have a chance to win one of our really cool prizes.

Our Digital Media library collection uses special Overdrive software that needs to be downloaded and installed on your computer before you can download audiobooks. You may be restricted from installing software on your work computer, but you can still explore what's available from the digital media library.

For this discovery exercise, first check out the Audiobooks page on our library web page. Click on the link at the bottom of the Audiobooks page for the Digital Media Guided Tour and watch some or all of the short videos available explaining how to find and download audiobooks and recordings. Each short video gives detailed, step-by-step instruction for finding, downloading and transferring audio titles.

When you are ready, click on the link on the Audiobooks page to Search the Digital Media Collection.

Discovery Exercise:
  1. Find something in the collection and listen to the excerpt. For example, find Fahrenheit 451 and click on the link to listen to the excerpt from "Part One: The Hearth and the Salamander."

  2. Create a blog post about what you found. If you can't think of something to write, copy something from the book description or the review.

  3. OPTIONAL Thing (if you installed the Overdrive software): Log in to the Digital Media Collection with your Palm Beach County Library card and try downloading a title from the collection.
FYI: Digital Media titles are checked out for 14 days (exactly 14 days; titles can't be returned early), and you can have 5 titles checked out at a time. This is important to remember because if you've reached the maximum check-outs, you have to wait until the 14 days are up before you can check out something else.
